CHARLIE with Eighteen86

October 2020

This year is the 50th Anniversary of that famous season in which Charlie George secured his boyhood club the double by scoring the winning goal at Wembley. Simultaneously bringing the League & the FA Cup double back to Islington and cementing himself as an Arsenal legend. The release also coincides with Charlie’s 70th birthday.

Charlie lived the rare dream of every kid growing up in Islington and went from watching on the terraces at Highbury to playing for The Arsenal; the club he loved. Adored by the supporters in a way that only a local lad putting on the shirt can be. He was a player who caught the bus home after a match, or sat with fans in local pubs to discuss the game he had just played. A uniquely talented and graceful footballer as well as an outspoken rogue with Led Zep hair who never shied away from a scrap. An Arsenal and Islington legend who still works at the club and can be seen around the borough on any given day.

The project comprises a reworking of the famous 1970-71 Arsenal home kit along with a T-shirt and a fanzine.
